At Hiima and Kigumba there are two lines of Orthodox Tea manufacturing units with a production capacity of 4,000 kgs made tea per day.
Their vision is to provide the most unique, healthy and naturally delicious beverage solutions.
Their mission is to create and promote great-tasting, truly healthy, organic beverages. We strive to grow our business with the same honesty and integrity we use to craft our products, with sustainability and great taste for all.
Every cup of tea brewed from Mabale’s choicest high grown tea estates on the foothills of the world’s re-known Rwenzoris, otherwise known as the Mountains of the Moon, is served with a healthy dose of an historic journey. Established in 1969 by the then Uganda Tea Growers Corporation, Mabale through the years has transformed from a government parastatal run processing facility into a privately owned, run and managed smallholder tea factory.
Mabale tea is grown by well over 3000 smallholder tea farmers in the districts of Kyenjojo and Kabarole at an average altitude of 4500 ft above sea level. This area is ‘gifted by nature’ with a cool climate, which ensures a relatively slow plant growth rate. This naturally makes Mabale tea a high grown, high quality tea. Over the years, Mabale teas have acquired a reputation for their colour and brightness—all positive indicators of a good quality tea. This has been as a result of continuous improvement initiatives and a professional approach to management.
Mabale tea is manufactured following strict food safety guidelines under HACCP and Uganda National Bureau of Standards.
Mpanga Growers Tea Factory is a public limited company owned by small holder tea growers. It was incorporated in 1995 . It is located in western Uganda Kabarole district, producing high quality tea for local and export market. It is one of the tea factories formerly under Uganda Tea Growers Corporation (U T G C), established by an Act of parliament on 17th February 1966.
After privatization by Ugandan government with the assistance of the European Union, small holder tea farmers were encouraged to buy shares in order to have ownership of the factory and to increase on the share capital of the company. The company has four estates where it grows the green leaf. These are Kasunga, Kibaale, Kyapa and Demo.
The farmers who own the company also grow green leaf which they supply to the factory as out-growers. The total acreage of tea for both the out growers and factory owned estates is 1,274 ha out of this 200 ha (16%) of the total acreage belongs to the factory estates and the rest is owned by out-growers.
Eagle Investments Limited was established in 1978, and over 30 years of commitment to quality have seen garden tea become the first choice tea blender in the East African region. The tea factory is located in Jinja and has tea estates in Moniko- Lugazi, Wampewo – Wakiso, Kiwafu and Bugonya tea estates in Mukono district. They also source best quality teas from the hilly regions of Kabarole, Bushenyi and Kayonza districts.
